The New Holy Angels Catholic Church is Dedicated and Open

June 13, 2021 by myky4

ec20210412_172128On Wednesday, June 9, 2021, a years-old dream was realized for our urban Catholic parish. A new church building was duly dedicated and is now open for worship and other ministries of the Catholic Church in the near Northwest area of Indianapolis. This new edifice is a modest but current worship space for approximately 300, including seating for up to 40 in the Gospel Choir. It occupies approximately 7,000 square feet, includes a brick and stone exterior, liturgical facilities, gathering space, environmentally friendly heating, air conditioning and lighting,  adequate restrooms, and will soon include modern audio visual equipment, permanent baptismal font, and accents from our 100+ year old former Church. The new Church represents an investment of approximately $1.7 million on behalf of the Catholic Archdiocese of Indianapolis in the near-Northwest neighborhood of Indianapolis along the Dr. M. L. King corridor. It will anchor the Holy Angels Campus including Holy Angels School and other ministries and services within and to the community. HCO Architects performed the design work and CPM Construction – Indianapolis was our construction manager.  The new church is now open for Holy Angels mass and other liturgical activities. Until further notice, masks are required. Several finishing tasks are still to be completed. Likewise, attendance for the dedication mass had to be limited due to COVID restrictions. A complete video of the dedication is available at https://youtu.be/xbvDHGs_0kU. There will be additional dedication masses intended to accommodate additional parishioners, and our friends, volunteers, and other contributors, which we hope will coincide with further enhancements to our worship space. Sign ups (please use only one date) are as follows:

Although we have most of the planned budget on deposit, and have the full amount pledged, donations are still needed and are being gratefully accepted from friends and the public. Parishioners are encouraged to complete payment of any remaining pledge balances or to confirm as soon as possible, their intent to complete their pledges in writing. Inquiries may be addressed to the parish office at 317 926-3324. More on our fundraising efforts at Building A New Church With Living Stones.

Moving Ahead

April 3, 2019 by myky4

With the passing of our beloved Pastor, Father Kenneth Taylor, in FatherKTDecember of 2018, there was a profound impact upon the Holy Angels Parish Family, and truly upon the Archdiocese and the larger Church. We were already worshipping away from our parish grounds, through the immense generosity of Marian University under its President Daniel J. Elsener, yet God found a way and we have tried to follow His will.

Sr. Gail Trippet.pictureIn early 2019, Sister Gail Trippett, was appointed Parish Life Coordinator for Holy Angels and St. Rita Parishes, responsible for most Administrative Pastoral duties and some Sacramental Ministries.

Priests from nearby Bishop Simon Brute College Seminary are providing Mass and the Sacraments to both parishes.

Rev. Andrew Syberg Sacramental Minister

moriarty-josephVery Rev. Joseph B. Moriarty Sacramental Minister

We are moving ahead, following in the footsteps of our previous leaders by continuing the mission and vision God has for Holy Angels parish.

The past 2 years have been challenging. Parish leadership, clergy - religious - and laity, have worked with the Archdiocese toward a dedication of our new church home as soon as weather, COVID restrictions and the Archbishop's schedule allow. Meanwhile, continue to use our Facebook link here and on the main page "Visit Holy Angels on Facebook for Recent Happenings!," as well as the "News Briefs" tab to see current and recent stories. We hope you will join us.

We Plan to Dedicate the New Holy Angels Church in Spring 2021

February 26, 2021 by myky4

newchurch3c (2)Subject to COVID Protocols, weather affecting construction, and the schedule of Archbishop Charles C. Thompson, we plan to dedicate the New Holy Angels Church, on the site of our original structure on the Northwest Corner of 28th and Martin Luther King Streets, in Spring 2021. This new edifice will be a modest but current worship space for approximately 300, including seating for up to 40 in the Gospel Choir. It is planned to cover approximately 7,000 square feet including a brick and stone exterior, liturgical facilities, gathering space, modern audio visual equipment, environmentally friendly heating, air conditioning and lighting, permanent baptismal font, adequate restrooms, and accents from our 100+ year old former Church. The new Church represents an investment of approximately $1.7 million on behalf of the Catholic Archdiocese of Indianapolis in the near-Northwest neighborhood of Indianapolis along the Dr. M. L.
